The Kashmir University (KU) is likely to introduce the new faces of Registrar and the Controller examination in the varsity as the authorities have initiated the selection process for the posts.
The varsity has advertised the posts and invited applications from the eligible candidates for their selection on the posts.
Besides, the varsity authorities have also invited applications for the post of Director South Campus Anantnag, Director Information Technology and Support System (ITSS) and Director Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
However, the selection for Registrar and Controller of Examinations, will be done for a period of three years and the process, as per the KU notification will be renewed ‘as per statutes in force’.
Also the university authorities have invited applications for the post of Director, to head the State Resource Centre for Adult Education (SRCAE) in the campus.
SRCAE is functioning in the varsity from past many years to provide support to the literacy and adult education programme being run in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir state.
Interestingly the practice of inviting applications for these crucial posts was abolished in the varsity since late nineties when the then Vice Chancellor M Y Qadri had appointed registrar of the varsity through a proper selection process.
“Last time it was in late 90’s when selection of registrar was done through this process,” said a top official in KU, adding that the process was now repeated by the present Vice Chancellor (VC).
“Earlier, VC would select people for these posts out of his own discretion, but now the selection will be through a proper process.”
The candidates aspiring for the post of Registrar and Controller of Examinations should have a Master’s Degree with at least 55 percent marks or its equivalent grade B in the UGC seven point scales, besides 15 years experience as senior scale Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor with eight years experience in Associate Professor’s pay band along with experience in Educational Administration
“Or the candidates should have 15 years of administrative experience of which 8 years as Deputy Registrar or an equivalent post,” reads the KU notification.
Moreover the aspiring candidates, awarded post-graduate or Ph.D degree from foreign university have been asked to enclose “Equivalence Certificate” issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. “Without which their candidature will not be considered.”
Vice Chancellor (KU) Prof. Khursheed Iqbal Andrabi said the process has been initiated given its prudence and relevance. “I don’t know whether the selection has been made by this process earlier or not. I think it is prudent, relevant and important,” Prof. Andrabi said.
