Kashmiri documentary producer wins RedInk Award

A Kashmiri documentary maker has bagged an award at the RedInk Awards for Excellence in Journalism.
Aamir Rafiq Peerzada, who hails from Onagam village in North Kashmir's Bandipora district, won the award in the ‘sports’ category for his documentary 'Operation Everest- summiteers to saviours'.
Peerzada, who works with NDTV, produced the documentary last year after Nepal was hit by 7.8-magnitude earthquake, which left 22 people dead on the Everest base camp.
In its sixth year now, the RedInk Awards are hosted by the Mumbai Press Club.
Red Ink Awards have been instituted to promote best practices among journalists and encourage good quality writing, fair play and high ethical standards.
Peerzada was among the survivors, when an avalanche hit the Everest base camp.
He told Greater Kashmir that his camera person got injured, when the avalanche triggered by earthquake hit the base camp.

“But, still we managed to produce a film on rescue and relief operation on Everest called "Operation Everest- summiteers to saviours",” he said.
