Police today said they have arrested a man in Anantnag district for allegedly defaming a school in his Facebook post.
“Principal of KY International School Batingoo, Anantnag, lodged a written complaint in Police Post Janglaat Mandi along with a photograph on 23rd of instant month, stating therein that a person Ishtiyaq Ahmad Sofi son of Abdul Aziz Sofi resident of Shirpora, Anantnag, has uploaded a photograph on his Facebook wall and has projected the photograph in such a manner which has not only defamed the name of school but has created an environment which may disturb the public order. Upon the complaint a case FIR number 100/2016 under section 505 (b) RPC was registered and investigation was taken up. During the course of investigation it surfaced that the said person had done this act for personal interests. The accused was arrested in the instant case," a police spokesman said.
