Shaista ‘dies again’ as family receives her MA exam result

What could be more unfortunate for those parents who get the result of their child after his or her death.
The result of Masters Degree (MA Urdu) of Shaista Hameed was declared on Monday, after more than two months of her death in alleged forces firing during an encounter on February 14 at Lelhar in Kakapora Pulwama. She has secured 54 percent marks in Masters Degree. 
Two civilians were killed in alleged firing and tear gas shelling of government forces during clashes after an encounter in which one militant was killed.
Emotional scenes were witnesses here in the house of Abdul Hameed Mir, when her daughter’s result was declared.
Shaista had joined Maulana Azad University and had appeared in part second examination.
“It was a heart breaking moment when we came to know the result of my daughter. All the family members broke down and we could not control our emotions,” Shaista’s father Abdul Hameed Mir said.
“She was a very intelligent and talented girl. She was waiting for the results but fate had something else for her. She was killed in cold blood,” he said.
“It was like Shaista died again when her result came,” he added with tears rolling down his cheeks.
He complained that she was killed by forces in cold blood but no case has been registered till date and no action has been taken.
“At that time the administration assured that the accused would be identified within a week and action will be taken against them but it is now more than two months but nothing has been done,” Hameed said.
“Even eight witnesses have deposed before the enquiry officer but even then no action was taken,” he said.
He said that he went from pillar to post regarding the case but no one responded to him positively.
Locals complained that by not taking any action against the accused, government has cleared that there is no justice in Kashmir.
Two students including Shaista Hameed were killed in alleged forces firing and tear gas shelling in Lelhar Kakapora on February 14 during clashes after an encounter in which one militant was killed.
Dozens of people were injured during clashes which erupted in most parts of the district. Many of the injured sustained pallet injuries.
Protests and strike was also observed in most parts of the valley while as Pulwama remained shut for many days.
Following the incident and public outcry, the administration assured action against the accused and an enquiry commission was constituted.

Eight witnesses have deposed before the commission but there is no progress in the case.
