Protests erupted in Sarai Bala and Maharaji Bazar localities in Kashmir capital Srinagar on Tuesday against the killing of “two militants in police action last night”.
The protests were held amid a complete shutdown in the areas with protesters alleging that two youths were killed in a staged gunbattle.
Shops and other business establishments remained closed in the area.
Reports said that police burst tear-smoke shells to disperse the protesters.
Last night, police said that it killed two militants of Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen outfit, including a commander, in a brief encounter in the area.
